"I am in the process of switching State Farm agents because of my experience with this office, specifically with the Life & Health Manager, Traci.
I started an auto insurance policy through this office on June 1 after relocating to North Carolina on short notice due to a family matter. On June 8, Traci contacted me to let me know they needed proof of my North Carolina residency. At the time, I had not yet been to the DMV, but I explained that I would provide the documentation as soon as possible.
On June 12, after receiving my temporary North Carolina driver's license, I called the office and was instructed to text a photo of it to Traci. After sending the document, I received no indication that there were any issues or that anything further was needed.
A month later, on July 13, Traci called to say they had never received the photo and still needed proof of residency. Rather than acknowledging the delayed follow-up or addressing what happened to the document I had previously sent, she repeatedly asked me to leave a Google review for her—three separate times during the call—and even suggested I do so before emailing my residency documentation. Given my experience, I chose not to leave a review at that time, but I immediately emailed a copy of my permanent North Carolina driver's license.
On July 18, I received a notice dated July 14 stating that my policy was being canceled because my North Carolina residency could not be verified. Since it was a Saturday, I contacted State Farm's national customer service line to confirm that my driver's license had been received. The representative informed me that there were no notes on my account regarding our prior conversations and no residency documents had been uploaded.
At that point, I requested a transfer to a different agent. My concern is not that residency verification was required—that is understandable—but that documents I submitted were apparently never processed, there was little to no follow-up until my policy was already at risk of cancellation, and my account lacked documentation of our communications. I hope future customers receive more timely follow-up and better recordkeeping than I experienced."
